hello beautiful angels, princesses, and other people of the Hot Literati Universe.

I’m so happy you’re here.
Tomorrow, I'll post the winning essay of our April Competition, but for today, I’m going to tell you about some of my favorite open mics in New York and some things that I did recently!
God Save the Scene Reading
Yesterday, I joined my friend Chris at a reading series by GOD SAVE THE SCENE at a gallery off of Canal Street. There were a lot of great satirical pieces, a couple of which actually made me laugh out loud! I met one lovely woman from LA who came to Hot Literati’s “Love Island x Stanford Prison Experiment” salon last year, and I met a nice gentleman from Kentucky. I talked about my passion for Ohio and Karaoke and had a very nice time.
You all have been with me for a few years now, so I find it sort of funny to say that naturally I think I’m quite shy when I walk into a room of strangers, and my brain does that thing that many brains do where it goes “everyone here hates me because they don’t know me!” Usually that’s not true, and you literally just have to say hello.
If you struggle with this feeling, I highly recommend this podcast episode and this Hot Literati Course.
My Favorite Open Mics in New York
These are singing open mics!!! I love them. Putting them below the paywall, but i’m also posting them in our community at hotliterati.com if you’re a member there. It has taken me a full year to gather this intel so I hope that it is helpful <3
