You'd be sexier if you showed up

Most people are actually very unreliable and inconsistent in today's world.

This morning, I went all the way to Queens to try to attend an event, only to find out that the location had changed and it was only in person once a month and was online this week.

Following the pandemic, we've shifted so much of our lives to remote work, which removes the B-level bonding of a real conversation. People's attention spans are much shorter, and people cancel last minute at an insane rate. And I say this without judgement-- I myself used to be like this until I starting really looking at myself, my own life, and figuring out what direction I wanted to move in.

On the bus back, I reflected on this moment and deleted social media off of my phone. I'd been staying up too late on it, which I know is a byproduct of the decreased cognitive power that our brains have in the evening. It's an easy, frictionless form of entertainment, which is why we seek it out, but if we really reflect, that's time you could be reading a good book or having sex with your partner.

And this isn't just my complaint-- Jonathan Haidt found that one of the biggest impacts of social media on teens is a lack of sleep.

And even with my apps freshly deleted, on my way home I noticed a squirrel eating a peanut, because when you stop craving dopamine and stimuli from the little glass thing in your hand, you start to notice the little things in the world and within yourself.

From now on, I'm dedicated to building a stronger nexus here on Hot Literati's website and having it be the center of everything Hot Literati--from the blog, to events, to my musings and journey building and expanding this world.

Hot Literati exists to make you hotter, and a lack of discipline and not being true to your word is one of the unsexiest things you can possibly have. For me personally, it's an immediate turn off. But I had to really work on myself before I could say that.

If you're ready to get hotter, join Hot Literati and journal through a course.

You'll be surprised what it feels like to sit and think clearly through something and to actually show up for yourself and to have real pages and new neural pathways to show for it.
