Bringing back Hot Literati Clubs

I'm reading my Bible and packing up my apartment for a big move. To where? That's not a secret I'll never tell :o

Leaving this space has me reminiscing on what it was like to move in. In my early 20s I made up for what I lacked in experience with audacity. The bed frame for example, was put together by a very kind Italian man as our first and last date. The mount that held the TV to the wall was a gift from an Australian man who I kept running into, on the train platform, or in one of the cars, for years.

I, like all of us, am terrified of change and a lot of the time I compensate by doing dramatic things like going to a new country for two months or getting highlights or blogging. I think the dramatizations are a good way to learn how to be excited about things and excited about your own future, but I am looking for more useful ways to distract myself which is one of the many reasons why I'm bringing back monthly Hot Literati Clubs.

What are Hot Literati Clubs?

I'm so glad you asked! Hot Literati clubs are collective deep dives on a book, a film, an artist, etc that we all embark on together, to "look the same way" and build community around a subject. We've done deep dives on Marilyn Monroe, on Beets, and more.

Where will Hot Literati Clubs be Hosted?

Good question! I've spent the past few months giving our website some much needed TLC to build out the infrastructure to host these things. There are different message boards that you can access at hotliterati.com/community. You will need to be logged in with the email you used to purchase your Hot Literati Membership. Please note: this is not on Substack or Patreon or Instagram or Discord etc etc. This is all on hotliterati.com, our new final, digital home <3

What Clubs Exist?

This is where I need your help. The following groups exist already:

Book Club - this is where we'll host book club
Writers - a group because I want to talk to other writers. I may also post submission opportunities here :p
Film - a place to discuss film, recommend films you like, review others, etc
Music - a place to discuss music, fav artists, album drops, and more (someone pop in and share your thoughts on the new Lana single)
Literature - a place to share what you're reading for fun, what you think of it, etc
Visual Art - a place to share visual artists, old, new, and maybe yourself if you paint

I will continue to build out more as I see fit and as the groups continue to grow :)

How much is this?

The Hot Literati membership, hosted on our website, is $15 a month. This covers web hosting fees, labor, and helps make sure it remains an intentional space. I'm also working on an app, as the desktop is ideal but we all have phones :o
