Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you choose to provide (name, city, bio, profile photo). Reading and activity data: We collect data about your reading activity, including books you track, annotations and notes you create, milestones you reach, and content you submit to the blog or community. Community data: Messages and content you post in community chat rooms, book club discussions, and public activity feeds. Purchase information: When you purchase Pro or an event ticket, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. We retain records of transactions, subscription status, and entitlements. Location: When you record a run, the app collects your precise location to measure your route, distance and pace. If you lock your screen during a run you started, it keeps recording until you stop the run. It never collects your location in the background at any other time. While you use the app, it may also use your location to show places and events near you. Places you save are kept in your account. Health and fitness: Runs you record, and food log entries you add (what you ate and how you felt), are stored in your account so you can see your history. They are private to you unless you choose to share them. Photos, audio and files: Photos you choose to add (such as your profile photo, closet pieces, meals, places, posts or handwritten pages) and recordings you make (such as voice memos and songs) are uploaded and stored in your account. Voice input: When you tap the mic to talk instead of type, your phone's speech recognition service (Apple or Google) turns your speech into text. We receive the text. Messages: Direct messages you send to other members are stored so the people in the conversation can read them. Device and usage data: We collect standard web and app analytics data including IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and feature usage. This is used to improve the product. We use a push notification token to send the notifications you turn on.

We use your information to: - Provide and improve the Hot Literati service - Manage your account and subscription - Deliver reading guides, event communications, and product updates - Run community features including chat rooms and book clubs - Process payments and manage entitlements - Respond to support requests - Comply with legal obligations When you use features that read a photo or text for you (such as reading a handwritten page, describing a closet piece, or reading a meal photo), that photo or text is sent to our AI provider to process your request. To personalize the suggestions we show you, what you write on Hot Literati (such as Daily Drop answers, journal entries and chat posts) is processed by our service providers, including AI providers; you can turn this off in settings under "Picks based on what you write." We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform: Supabase: Hosts our database and authentication system. Your account credentials and app data are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Stripe: Processes all payments including Pro subscriptions and event tickets. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle payment information. RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscription purchases made through the iOS and Android apps. Cloudflare R2: Stores user-uploaded files including profile photos and annotation images. Railway: Hosts our backend API servers. Anthropic: Our AI provider. It processes photos and text you submit to AI features, and your conversations with your Hot Literati helper and Amory, to answer your request. Under its terms for businesses, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models, and it deletes it within 30 days except where it is flagged for safety review or must be kept by law. Resend: Sends account and notification emails. Expo: Delivers push notifications and app updates to the mobile app. Apple and Google: If you download our mobile app, your relationship with these platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention and financial recordkeeping. Community content (chat messages, blog posts) that you have contributed may be retained in de-identified or archived form.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: - Access the personal data we hold about you - Correct inaccurate data - Request deletion of your data - Object to or restrict certain processing - Port your data to another service To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@hotliterati.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We use session cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features of the service may not work correctly without them.

The Hot Literati service is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

If you connect your Hot Literati account to a third-party AI assistant or integration (for example, through our API or MCP connector), it accesses your account data — such as your bookshelf, reading logs, writing goals, and chapter activity — only as needed to answer your requests, and only your own data. - Hot Literati and the integration provider each act as independent controllers of data processed through the integration. - We keep this data only as long as necessary to fulfill your request, and delete it when you disconnect the integration or ask us to. - We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or infer sensitive attributes (such as health, political views, or religious beliefs) from your reading activity. - We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect this data. To disconnect, remove the integration in the third party's settings. To request deletion of data associated with an integration, email hello@hotliterati.com.

Post everywhere lets you connect your own YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok accounts so Hot Literati can post your work to them for you. You choose which accounts to connect, and you can disconnect any of them at any time. What we access: Only what each platform needs to post for you. For YouTube, we ask Google for permission to upload videos to your channel (youtube.upload) and to read basic channel information (youtube.readonly), which we use to show which channel is connected and to check the status of videos you posted through Hot Literati. We do not read, change or delete any other videos, comments, subscribers or analytics on your channel. How we use it: We upload the videos, photos, titles and captions you choose, to the accounts you pick, at the time you choose. We store the access tokens each platform gives us so scheduled posts can go out, and use them for nothing else. What we don't do: We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, use it to train AI models, or share it with anyone except the platform you are posting to. No one at Hot Literati reads it unless you ask us to help with a problem, or it is needed for security or to follow the law. Disconnecting: When you remove an account on the Post everywhere page, we delete its tokens right away. You can also remove Hot Literati's access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or in each platform's own settings. To ask us to delete anything else connected to these accounts, email privacy@hotliterati.com. Hot Literati's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements. YouTube uploads are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms) and the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Your Hot Literati helper is an AI assistant that works for you. You can name it and choose how it looks. Amory is Hot Literati's own assistant; it answers questions about Hot Literati itself, such as events, membership and recommendations. Both use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. What your helper can read: Your helper always knows what is public on your World. By default it can also read your reading, notes and shelves, your artist profile and goals, and the time you spend reading, writing and making things. It reads your drafts, journals and private projects only if you turn that on. You can change any of these at any time under "What your helper can read," and it stops reading that information from then on. How we use it: What your helper reads, and what you say to it, is used only to answer you and to help you with your own work on Hot Literati, such as suggestions while you write or make music and film, talking through your goals and who you are as an artist, and planning what to post. When your helper drafts your artist profile or a post, it saves or posts nothing until you confirm it; you post through Post everywhere yourself. It is not shown to other members or visitors. If you choose to let visitors ask your helper about your World, it answers them only from what is already public on your World, never from your private information. Memory: Your helper can remember things you tell it so you don't have to repeat yourself. These are stored in your account. You can see them, delete any of them, or clear your helper's memory at any time. Sending it to our AI provider: To answer you, the information your helper needs for that answer is sent to Anthropic. Anthropic processes it on our behalf; it does not use it to train its models and deletes it within 30 days, except where it is flagged for safety review or must be kept by law. What we don't do: We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. No one at Hot Literati reads your helper conversations unless you ask us to help with a problem, or it is needed for security or to follow the law. AI can be wrong: Your helper and Amory can make mistakes. Check anything important before you rely on it. Usage: Each account gets a monthly amount of helper and Amory use, and members get more. When visitors ask your helper about your World, it counts toward your amount. To turn your helper off, clear its memory or change what it can read, go to Customize your World.
