You have been watching. Now you will see. By the end of this course, you will be able to walk out of any cinema and say precisely what you just saw — in specific, technical terms that go beyond "the acting was good" or "the cinematography was beautiful." You will know what the camera is doing and why, what the score is arguing, what the editing is constructing, and what the director is trying to say with the specific formal choices they made. You will not watch the same way again. That is not a loss of pleasure. It is an increase in it.
